Why your website isn't getting you enquiries

You paid for a website. It looks fine. Nothing happens. Before you blame the website gods, run this diagnosis - it covers what we find in almost every audit, in the order we find it.

1. Nobody can find it

The brutal first question: when someone in your town searches for what you do - “electrician Fleetwood”, “dog groomer Cleveleys” - do you appear? Not for your business name; people who know your name aren’t the problem. For the service.

If the answer is no, your website isn’t failing to convert visitors. It has no visitors. The fixes live in search: pages for each service and town you serve, a Google Business Profile that’s actually maintained, reviews coming in steadily. Without that, every other improvement is rearranging furniture in a shop nobody walks past.

2. It doesn’t say where you work

The most common, most fixable miss. Websites that say “quality plumbing services” without ever saying where. Google can’t rank you in a town you never mention, and a visitor from Poulton wants to know you cover Poulton before they’ll ring.

Say your towns. On real pages, not a list in the footer.

3. It’s slow on the phone in the van

Your customers aren’t browsing on an office fibre line. They’re on a phone, on 4G, often standing in the problem they want fixed. If your site takes six seconds to appear, they’re back on Google before it loads - and Google notices that too, and ranks you accordingly.

Test it now: open your site on your phone, on mobile data, somewhere with mediocre signal. Honestly count the seconds.

4. It asks for effort instead of offering value

“Contact us” is work. A form with nine fields is work. Most visitors aren’t ready to commit to a phone call with a salesperson - they want to know roughly what things cost and whether you’re credible.

The websites that win give before they ask: prices on the page, real photos of real jobs, reviews with names on them, and a low-friction first step. Ours is a free website audit - value first, no commitment.

5. The enquiries come - and die in your inbox

Here’s the one almost nobody checks. Some websites produce enquiries that simply never become jobs, because the reply comes too late. The customer messaged three businesses at 8pm. Whoever answered first - even just to ask a sensible follow-up question - usually wins. If your reply comes tomorrow lunchtime, you came third.

This is the quietest, most expensive leak in local business marketing, and it’s why every site we build can answer enquiries in seconds, around the clock - qualifying the job and teeing up your call back while your competitors sleep.
